Memorial Groundbreaking

On October 25, 1998, Vice President Al Gore was joined by Hans and Torrey Butzer who designed the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial, to break ground. The Butzers’ winning Memorial design was discovered from 624 submissions submitted from all 50 states and 23 different countries.
