People Helping People
The Oklahoma City National Memorial has shared the lessons learned from the Oklahoma City bombing and its memorialization process with other communities honoring those killed in tragedies. In this picture, Memorial Executive Director Kari Watkins, former Memorial Owner Representative Hardy Watkins and past Memorial Chair Mike Turpen, tour the construction of the 9/11 Memorial Museum with its President and CEO Alice M. Greenwald.
In October 2002, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation which was tasked with building the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, toured the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum to better understand the process of memorialization. Here, members of that group walk through the Field of Empty Chairs with family members of those were killed in the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995.
