Murrah Granite
The Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was a nine-story building composed of concrete and granite. It was named after federal judge and native Oklahoman Alfred P. Murrah and opened on March 2, 1977. The building housed 17 federal agencies. It also housed a day care center, snack bar and Federal Employees Credit Union. Approximately 445 people worked in the building. On April 19, 1995, there were 361 workers and visitors, including 21 children in the day care center.
This Murrah granite fragment was given to Cindy Phipps after the bombing. On April 19, 1995, she was across the street from the Federal Building at the Federal Courthouse serving on a grand jury.
